Children show their talent
KINDERLAND, a centre that offers early education and childcare services, celebrated its 30th anniversary with a charity concert and carnival.
Children from Kinderland centres in Selangor and Perak danced and sang on stage.
They might not have remembered their dance steps well but their adorable moves managed to draw applause from the crowd.
Themed 30 Years of Excellence in Empowering Children with Hope, the event held at APIIT Smart School in Subang was a tie-up with Persatuan Kebajikan Hope Worldwide Kuala Lumpur.
Heart stealers: The children proving they have a lot of talent.
Crestar Education, which set up Kinderland in 1978 in Singapore, donated RM7,000 to the non-governmental organisation (NGO) for its future activities.
Hope Worldwide Kuala Lumpur Vincent Sim pointed out that the NGO’s activities focused on five areas — children, education, health, senior citizens and volunteerism.
Crestar Education director Arthur Ng said the event was also to help further strengthen family ties and bonding while the children interacted with one another.
“All these translate into a meaningful childhood for the children,” he said.
Subang Jaya assemblyman Hannah Yeoh, who launched the event, cited a personal example to illustrate how important it was for parents to instil important values to the children.
Having some fun: Haris Daniel (left) and Vishnu, both six, decorating their cupcakes at one of the game stalls.
“I used to take money from a rich girl in Form 1 and it became a habit. When my father found out about it, I was punished severely.
“He told me, ‘You do not take a thing does not belong to you.’
“That’s why today, I am against corruption and insist on not taking taxpayers’ money, because the money does not belong to me,” she said.
Besides the concert, booths were set up for the children to take part in the games.
