Organised by FOMCA, April 21st to 27th has been announced "Turn Off The TV Week". The international annual campaign began yesterday and it encourages parents to switch off the TV at home and spend some time with the children doing other things instead.
In this campaign, people are asked to close their TV for a week. This can also be extended to a week without a screen which includes computers, mobile phones, video game equipment and electronic devices that screen. The aim of this campaign is to encourage people, especially parents to spend leisure time with their children by doing other activities are more active and interact.
Some alternative activities for children and families include:
1. activities in the park
2. organize a community clean up
3. visit the zoo
4. go camping (even if it's in the backyard)
5. read a book
